Eat Together

When I was a kid, there were so many things that I didn't eat... Prawns, crabs, squids, pineapples, vegetables, and many more... It's not that I had allergies or anything... It's just that I refused to eat them because they looked weird...

Therefore, most of the time, I only ate rice with gravy and fried fish or chicken... Yeap, only those... I also ate only fruits that I considered normal like bananas, mangos, watermelons, and durian... Other fruits like jackfruit, buah salak, pineapples were weird for me and thus I refused to even smell them...

I have four siblings; me, two younger brothers and an older one... Now, the oldest of us four ate everything even until now... Just give him any kind of meal and he'll devour it without questioning... Budu, petai, jering, buah salak, jackfruit, pineapples... Everything!

Whereas, my younger brothers were like me... They only eat certain food that they deemed as normal... They still do until today...

Well, for me, the period of not eating seafood and pineapples and vegetables came to an end after I continued my studies at UiTM Kampus Bandaraya Melaka (KBM)... Now I'm more adventurous and keen on trying new food... Though vegetables are still not my cup of tea...

Personally, I think I changed because I hanged out and ate together with other people... My housemates and friends while I was studying at KBM ate almost everything... They introduced me to Malaccan Chinese delicacies, Korean grill and buffet, western food and etc... My wife helped me overcome vegetable-rejection  by forcing me eat greens...

I came to a conclusion that I refused to eat most food is because my family seldom ate together... Yeah, my family is not the type who sit together at a table during meals... Most of the time, we prefer to eat separately... I would always pick up a comic book and eat while reading it... My younger bros usually watch DVDs and cartoons... Ma and dad watch television shows...

I guess that's why my brothers and I don't eat budu, ulam and petai while my parents are crazy about them...

My oldest brother is an exception because he was raised by my grandmother...

Based on that, my point is, if you want your child to eat the things that you eat and not be picky about food, you must eat together with them... Let them watch what and how you eat and they would follow... Children are fast learners and they learn by observing others...

The Customer is always Right

Last Friday, my wife bought vitamins at Watson's in Aeon Jaya Jusco Cheras Selatan.... The vitamins were packed in two bottles; one was regular size while the other was smaller... Those two were sold together as a promotion...

After we got home, wifey asked me to unwrap them... I carefully tear down the plastic wrap on the smaller bottle's side... To my surprise, as soon as I teared up the wrap, the upper part of the smaller bottle fell off to the floor... Yup, the bottle was broken...

The next day, we brought the vitamins to Watson's to ask for a replacement... We politely explained to the store manager that the bottle was broken before we unwrapped the packaging and we never dropped it...

The manager then explained to us that it was impossible for the bottle would break without experiencing hard impact... That ticked wifey off... Wifey immediately asked him, "Are you calling me a liar?"

"No, I'm not saying that you're lying... It's just that, it's impossible for the bottle to break without you dropping it...", told the manager...

"That means, you are calling us liars... We've explained to you that we never dropped it since we put it in my baby's bag... The bottle was broken before we unwrapped it!"

I can always count on wifey to argue... Hey, she's a freakin debater with a fierce attitude... I wouldn't want to be her opponent... However, the manager tried to argue some more and his face and attitude turned sour... He lost his cool...

After some arguing, he went back into the storage room and returned back with a new packaging of the same vitamins... "Cuba la bukak! Tengok, pecah tak?!"

Wifey unwrapped the packaging as he watched with a frustrated look upon his face... The bottles didn't break of course...

"Okey, tak pecah kan?? Ambil la!"

Now, that was really really rude... Don't you think?

The customer is always right...

Even if we're wrong, the manager shouldn't give us that kind of attitude... He should've given a more acceptable solution instead of demonstrating how wrong we were and indirectly trying to prove that we're liars...

Okey, even if we're lying, he would just let us take home the broken bottle and risk eating shards of broken glass? Come on, man...

Iron Man 3 (2013)

After the Avengers events in New York, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) suffered severe insomnia and panic attacks... Then, came the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) who publicly terrorized nations and declared war against America... Tony made the war against Mandarin personal after one of Mandarin bombings hurt Tony's friend and former body guard, Happy (Jon Favreau)...

The best thing about this movie is the actors & actresses were so great in acting their roles... The best acting combo for me is between Robert Downey Jr. and Ty Simpkins... They're so funny together... Though the one that I adore the most is Gwyneth Paltrow who played the gorgeous Pepper Potts... She's so badass in this one... She'd given a suit, super powers and got brutally cool... I love her!

The character that I like the least is sadly Don Cheadle as Rhodes / Iron Patriot / War Machine... It's not that his acting was bad but he was given a quite insignificant role in this movie... I pity him... Should've given him more screen time to shine as Iron Patriot by allowing him to join the climatic fight...

Another attraction of this movie is the humor... Like I said before, the combo of Downey Jr. and Simpkins were pleasantly funny... Yeah, I used the adverb 'pleasantly' because they're funny in a very heart warming way... "The prodigy son", Mark 42, also gave the audience something to laugh about...

Speaking of Mark 42, I love how they make the armors seemed alive... Even when they're in pieces, the armors appeared to have their own thoughts and personalities... or maybe it was just JARVIS...

What would make this movie better for me is more armor action... Before the movie, I was so stoked to the fact that more than one armor would be showcased and deployed into action... Therefore, I was a bit disappointed when they only show short glimpses of those armors in action at the climax... If I was the director, I would definitely show more of each armor's specialties and features... Of course, that would take too long since there were so many, but hell, I wanted to see more of Igor and Red Snapper!!

Besides that, I was a bit disappointed with the Mandarin... The mystery of Mandarin turned out to be just a joke... Like literally a joke... Pfftt... I was looking forward to see Mandarin's 10 powerful super rings like in the comic books... However, they chose to go through with the Extremis version of Mandarin...

All in all, I would like to say that I like this movie very much... The actors were great, Pepper Potts FTW!, the action scenes were great, the story was quite heart warming, the effects were so cool and we got to see the vulnerable side of Tony Stark... Though, I demand more action from other armors besides Mark 42 and Iron Patriot...

4 out of 5 stars
