Choose Sincerity

On my way to my car at a gas station, I passed in front of a row of other cars with drivers & passengers inside... I was from the station's convenience store to deposit some cash into my own account... It's easier to do that here rather than at the bank because they're less people lining up in front of the cash deposit machine...

Anyway, as I was walking to my car, I saw a man, probably in his 30's, trying to talk to a female driver of a black Accord... The woman locked herself up in her vehicle with two other female passengers and the man was begging for her to lower the car window... Instead of complying, she reversed her car & drove away...

I did my best not to stare at the guy because I didn't want him to notice me...

When I got into my car, I immediately lock the doors & started the engine... To my surprise, the guy was behind my car, blocking my path out of the parking spot with his motorcycle!

He parked his motorcycle beside my car's boot & tried to talk to me... Even though he begged me to, I refused to lower my car window because he looked like a drug addict... He was limping, he got bloodshot eyes, his clothes were a bit dirty...

"Adik, tolong la pakcik dik... Motor pakcik pancit... Duit tak ada mau baiki...", he said in a begging manner... He showed me his identification card, his hollow wallet, & his handphone to gain my trust...

I took out my wallet, drew a RM10 bill out of it, lower the car window just a bit & slid the money through the narrow slit...

"RM10 cukup tak?", I inquired... He nodded & asked for my phone number so that he could pay me back... I told him, "Tak apa la..."

He vanished immediately...

Now, I could have chosen to think badly of that guy... I could have thought that he tricked me and used the money to buy drugs instead... or he was actually wanting me to lower my car window to snatch my wallet or something...

but instead of that, I chose to think positively... I chose to believe him... and by doing that, I sincerely gave him my RM10 bill... Yeap, I didn't give him money just to make him go away, but I gave it because I chose to believe his words...

By choosing sincerity, I felt calm... I didn't resent my action and I didn't feel angry...

"Why must I take precautions steps if I chose to believe him? Why didn't I just lower my window all the way?" You might ask...

Well, being kind & sincere doesn't mean I have to be stupid... I believed, but I also didn't trust him...

i was approached by a young man in the midst of a heavy traffic jam. my baby was gugu gaga-ing next to me and my other baby was singing a happy song at the back. i was scared as hell. i just screamed and screamed over the phone to my husband until he went away to other cars. i choose to be smart too.
